Bulgaria’s Sofia airport passenger numbers have increased by 12% for October compared to the month of 2014. 

357,978 passengers arrived and departed from the airport over the month from 3,844 planes. The increase in the number of planes using the airport increased by less than 1%.

80% of the flights using Sofia airport in the month of October were international routes.

2014 was a record breaking year for Sofia airport. It served more than 3.8 million passengers last year, which was an increase of 8.9% compared to 2013. More modest increases were seen at the airports in Varna and Burgas, with 5.2% and 2% respectively.

London is by far the most popular route served. Last year, the city alone accounted for 7% of the passengers using Sofia airport.

Only 5 km from the city centre, it has more than doubled its passenger numbers over the past 10 years. 2015 passenger numbers are set to break records yet again.
