Greece Bulgaria Gas Interconnector Agreement Imminent

The investment agreement between Bulgaria and Greece for the planned gas interconnector between the two countries is to be signed on 10th December.

The Bulgarian Energy Minister, Temenuzhka Petkova made the announcement in an interview following her return from the Energy and Economic summit of the Atlantic Council in Istanbul.

The pipeline will be an important element to the Southern Gas Corridor also giving Bulgaria further diversity in its gas supply.

The date for completion is likely to be the end of 2018. It was initially due to be launched by the end of this year, but serious delays prevented this from happening.

Bulgaria will soon have interconnectors with Romania and Serbia, both receiving European Union funding.
