Following a successful first year in Croatia, IKEA are already making plans to expand in the country.
IKEA Croatia CEO, Stefan Vanoverbeke reported that turnover for the first year was 536 million kuna (€70.5 million), which he said exceeded expectations by 15%.
Vanoverbeke told a press conference that by the end of next year, IKEA plan to launch an online sales platform, broadening the customer base to the entire country.
Currently, Croatia has only one IKEA outlet, located in Zagreb. As a result, 67% of customers come from Zagreb and the surrounding county. 8% of customers come from neighbouring Bosnia, Serbia and Slovenia.
IKEA moved into Croatia in August of last year, making it their first location in the Western Balkans. The 38,000 square metre building employs nearly 400 people.
