Nordic Aviation Group Renamed Nordica
- New Europe Investor
- March 09, 2016
Estonian Air’s replacement, Nordic Aviation Group (NAG) is currently working on developing a new brand for the national carrier.
The airline will have the new name, Nordica, and a comprehensive new brand will be wrapped around the country’s national airline.
According to a board member of the company, the new name represents the airline’s aim of targeting more international business opportunities. 456 people submitted ideas for the new name, with many suggesting names containing ‘Estonia’ and ‘Estonian’. This was not considered neutral enough for the new face of attracting business abroad.
Estonian Airways was shut down at the end of last year on orders from the European Commission, as punishment for continued bailouts from the Estonian government to keep it afloat. The Commission deemed the bailouts unfair and uncompetitive to other airlines in the European Union.
