The World Economic Forum have released their annual Global Competitiveness Report.
It looks at the efficiency of 144 of the world’s governments, bringing in factors such as wastefulness of government spending, regulation and transparency.
Qatar are ranked the world’s most efficient with Singapore, Finland, Hong King and the UAE making up the remaining top five. Rather surprisingly, Rwanda are also in the top ten ahead of Switzerland and Luxembourg.
Least Competitive
In terms of the least efficient governments, Croatia have come in sixth place.
Venezuela are the world’s least efficient government with Italy as Europe’s least efficient.
Unsurprisingly, the validity of such a survey has been called into question. Many have asked what elements are not factored in to place a country such as Switzerland behind other countries such as Malaysia and Rwanda.
