The Ukrainian banking system is stablising according to the president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
At a press conference in Kiev, the president said he has every reason to believe the future is bright, and that the bank’s Governor will ensure that the banking system can maintain stability.
Poroshenko noted that the growth in foreign exchange reserves and the stabilising of the country’s exchange rate prove that the economy is now in better shape.
He said that he is currently setting the government a task of transition from survival policies to a development strategy policy.
The Ukrainian government expects GDP growth of 1.1% this year, with inflation not to exceed 12%. The president told journalists that it will be possible to bring inflation down to 8% in 2017 with healthy GDP growth to match.
