Statistics for the first half of 2015 has shown that traffic at the airport of one of Romania’s largest cities has increased by 30%.
Cluj airport carried a total of 1.4 million passengers in the first half of 2015. A series of ongoing investments by the County Council has facilitated increased capacity and enhanced customer experience.
Currently, the airport operates 23 routes to 11 countries in Europe and the Middle East. In December, a new route to Dubai with Wizz Air will be launched with LOT airways opening a route to Warsaw at the beginning of next year.
Chairman of the Cluj County, Mihai Seplecan said that given the airport is the main gateway to Cluj county, investment will continue into the future.
The continued opening of routes will ensure continued expansion in passenger number statistics for the foreseeable future.
The airport was originally opened in 1932 and first passed the 1 million passenger mark in 2010.
