Poland’s Auction Site Allegro Up for Sale

The largest auction website in Central and Eastern Europe Allegro, has been put up for sale with many big names already showing interest in purchasing it.
Private Equity firm, CVC Capital Partners and Ebay are the contenders according to Reuters. Chinese e-commerce Group, Alibaba are also interested in order to help with their European expansion.
The deal is expected to be worth anything up to three billion euros, with the website being a ready made entry into the giant Polish market. It has 14 million customers and 22,000 online shops.
Allegro also operates in Germany and the Czech Republic.
It was founded in 1999 and acquired by African E-commerce and emerging market specialist, Naspers in 2008.
