07 Million Tourists to Romania So Far This Year

The number of foreign tourists to Romania in the first nine months of the year according the National Statistics Institute was 7.2 million.
It represented an increase of 10.2% from the same period last year. The number was calculated from border crossing points, with 56.7% coming from European Union countries. The majority of countries tourists came from were; Hungary, Germany, Poland, Italy and Austria.
Of the foreign visitors to Romania, 7.2% came from outside of Europe, with the remaining 36.1% coming from non-EU countries within Europe.
Just over 10.22 million visits were made by Romanians abroad in the first 9 months of the year, an increase of 5.7% on the same period last year. 79% of these made the departure using roads according to the data.
